King Salmon fishing continues to be hit and miss this week but the persistence of a few of our local captains replenished our supplies here at Dockside. Capt. Mark on board the Bonnie Marietta had a few strong days this week, while Capt. Conners of the Silver Bullet, Capt. Nailen of The Seeker, Capt. Van Wagner of the Pure Adrenaline, and Capt. Kennedy of the Twilight Lady all had consistent landings.
The tenacity of these captains allows us to once again feature local troll-caught King Salmon fillets for $19.95 per pound, or as whole fish for $10.95 per pound. These fish will be available starting Thursday June 5th and continue through Sunday June 8th while supplies last. Average weight this weekend is about 12 pounds with a few larger fish mixed in. As always for those of you who purchase a whole fish, we will cut it for no additional charge. Remember that King Salmon return approximately 70% when filleted so if you buy a whole fish, you will have about $16 per pound in fillets…a great value! If a whole fish is a little too much to deal with, then fillets are still a great value this weekend. Supplies are pretty strong but not great so we hope that we will have enough to satisfy everyone who is looking for the best Salmon available anywhere!
Other fishing this week also seems to be on the upswing. Capt. Patchen of the Kaps, Capt. Kann of the C and Capt. Richardson of the Ragamuffin all had landings of Lingcod. Capt. Owen Hackleman of the Provision and his father Capt. Steve Hackleman of the Ruth Anne II, had a better week fishing Blackcod. And last but not least, Capt. Truong of the Golden Eagle had an outstanding week fishing Grenadier. All three fish will be available this weekend in the Market and also showcased in the Restaurant in a variety of daily specials.
Finally this Sunday, June 8th we are proud to be throwing the 5th annual BBQ Oyster Feast and fireworks fundraiser on the patio at Dockside Too. Dockside donates 100% of the proceeds to the firework show in Morro Bay. Tickets are $20 each and include half a dozen BBQ oysters, a pitcher of beer and all day live music featuring Musical Charis in the morning and Lenny Blue and friends in the afternoon. This year you have your choice of small, medium or large oysters and four selections of ice cold draft beer so bring your appetite and some friends and hurry on down! The event starts at 11am and goes till dark-30. We hope to see you here and share in this exciting celebration for a great cause!
